It was Monday 23rd of August 2004, half-way through the summer holidays. That
mornin I got up at half past four in the morning, knowing that Westlife were going to be at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester
sometime that morning. I didn't have a clue what time the lads would get there. Me and my mum sat and had breakfast, I was
ssoooo excited. We got to the hotel about half past six, it were throwing it down with rain. We didn't even have an umbrella
so we ended up gettin soaked. I had my coat on, underneath that i had my Westlife jacket on and underneath that i had my Westlife
t-shirt on and all three of em were soaked.
Anyway the T.V. people came about half eight and started interviewing people,
Westlife were there for the you're the one auditions, I didn't get through or anything like that. Everyone was screaming,
shouting, singing you were nearly going deaf. At about ten o clock the tour bus arrived, a blue one with the word Trathams
written on the side. Everyone went wild. The people who had got through to the auditions were invited in, but they wanted
ten more people to audition from the fans outside. So the T.v people listened to the people outside to see who was good enough.
I put my hand up and they eventually asked me, the camera-man came over and the camera was like thirty centimetres away from
my face, i sang Evergreen but they didn't put me through and i were gutted.
Then screams filled the air, Westlife had come out. I saw the top of Shane and
Marks heads, I started crying. I didn't see Kian at all. They were about to go in and my mum said "Gemma over there, Nicky's
coming" so i ran over, tears rolling down my face, I held out the bugs-bunny teddy I'd got him. He looked into my eyes and
i looked into his, he looked down at the teddy, took it with one hand and said "Thank you!". It was over before i knew it.
I was crying for about half an hour afterwards. This T.V. person came up to me
while I was crying and said "What's up, do you want to be on T.V?" and I said "No, I don't wanna be on tele, I wanna see Westlife!"
Awwh you should have seen her face, she turned round and said "I'll come back later" but she never did.
